Creative Writing Contest Vol. 16 | Education: What will be some of my education reforms if I were made Minister of Education?

Greetings great Steemians community.
Looking at the educational system of Cameroon, a lot of good things which if implemented, would cause us to emerge among the top educators the whole wide world has. We have one of the best educational curriculum, rules and regulations governing our school, decisions and much more. The only challenge we have is at the level of personnels. We have a people who are willing to occupy positions in offices, but unwilling to do what it takes to be in that particular office.

For instance, when you go to a school like the University of Bamenda (UBa) and happen to have access to the internal rules and regulations, you would understand that the Minister of Education to an extent has set a precedence. In crafting out curricular and internal reforms. But most of our challenge now lies at the level of personnel reforms.

So, if I am made the Minister of Education, I will see to it that:

1. All the rules and regulations governing institutions and personnels are duly implemented to the least.
2. I will bring back Christianity to our schools and campuses. This is because education is purpose for theology. And merely learning with God as the main subject matter produces a people with little or no morality. And that is why we see teachers, employees and etc with great results, behaving like "illiterate school masters" in our nation.
3. I will employ Christian counselors and Pastors to Oversea and nurture the spiritual and social life of pupil and students at every level of education. Moral education will not only be purposed for passing exams, but for the installation of virtue and virtuous living in the life of both pupil, students and teachers.
4. I will suspend all teachers who are having a bad record and are not teaching but collecting salaries. I will also set up CCTV cameras on campuses and administrative offices to strictly monitor the behavior of teachers and administrators toward students.
5. I will add to the curriculum as a core course courses like entrepreneurship, financial freedom, just to name a few, to be studied using a practical-based approach to learning. This is purpose to enable students to graduate from institutions with a mindset of creating jobs, not seeking for jobs from here and there. Thus, enhancing the realization of vision 2035.
6. I will ensure that anyone admitted into teachers training institutions is by way of merit not by way of "God-fatherism or motherism" nor by way of"letter of motivation" as we often hear people say, and finally
7. I will ensure that educational delegates at all levels are strictly supervised and rewards or discipline administratively for effectiveness or lack of such, or even dismiss if called for.
