Hello esteemed football lovers of the steem world. Welcome to another episode of our AFCON review today the 29/01/2022 in which we will look into the first quarter final game between Cameroon and Gambia. I apologise for the long absence; it was due to circumstances between ordinary control. Without beating around, let's ride on!
The Japoma stadium in Douala today hosted the first quarter final match between Cameroon and Gambia. Cameroon came into the game with strong hopes and in good form after beating Comoros in the round of 16. Gambia who has been the spectacular underdogs of the tournament came in with confidence and with good form too Hoping to advance their stay in the tournament.

The game started at 5:00pm and was a real interesting game of football. The Lions pressed so hard in search of a goal but the scopions of Gambia kept playing on the defensive and had all 11 men behind in their own half. The first half finally ended 0:0 with Cameroon having over 70% of the ball possession and creating so many dangerous chances against the Gambia defense. In the second half, Cameroon continued pressing on at it didn't take long as Collins Fai sent in a beautiful cross to the head of Karl Toko who sent in a beautiful header beyond the reach of goal keeper Geye of Gambia and Cameroon took the lead. The pressure continued and just 7 minutes later, Karl Toko Ekambi once again fire in a brilliant finish to make it 2 for Cameroon. Aboubakar searched for a goal throughout the match but couldn't beat the Gambiam keeper after 90 mins. At the 70th minute, team Cameroon relaxed the pressured an contained the game till the end 2:0 for the Lions.

Summarily, team Gambia couldn't handle Cameroon; the pressure was too much for the novice Gambia to bear and they have bowed out of the competition after a brilliant performance. We hope to meat them again in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Cameroon is waiting to see who they will face at the semi final as the Egypt and Tunisia set to exchange lessons soon.
