Steemit Engagement Challenge S8-W3 | Elections in my country.
Hello, world! It feels delightful to know that, an amazing set of people awaits my content to be read. I appreciate you all for your time and effort to read through my blog, I appreciate the steemit team and the entire steemit blog for such an opportunity to write and get rewarded, thanks to this amazing community for such a wonderful contest topic about the "election" I have a lot to share on the above topic so, keep reading down friends.
What do you think of the elections in your country?:
In my dear country Nigeria, we operate on a democratic system of government, the right to vote and be voted for, to choose a leader in my country is by voting, the contestants would come out, tell to the world their interest and their plans to the people which is in another way referred to as campaign.
The election process in my country is a thing to cry so loud because our leaders are not doing the right thing at all, money shuts them up and they behave like the most selfish set of people. The election in Nigeria is nothing to talk good about at all and that is the more reason we are suffering to date because the masses go out to vote, while the leaders in power decide on what to do.
What do you think of the electoral system in your country?
The system of election 20 years back was a genuine one and the system of voting was manual whereby a citizen goes and votes on the ballot paper without being captured using the biometric, but in 2019, everything started changing, corruption became more and the system is no more at work at all, the electoral leaders are been bribed with money. Presently, we use the electronic method of voting whereby, the computer would tell the truth of who wins but still money is been used to bribe the electoral leaders.
How is it done in your country?
COtizens who are up to the age of 18 years and above are eligible to cast their votes and would be registered into the electoral system and be given a voter's card which would qualify the citizen to continuedly use the voting card to vote until the year got expired and needs renewal.
The election dates are been announced in time and the date is been announced earlier to make the contestants to make faster moves on their campaigns to different villages and cities. On the day of the election, citizens go out to cast their vote then the following day, the results would be bounced by the Electoral officials.
Is it transparent and fair in your country?
No! A capital hell no! I am not in any way seeing the election being done in transparency and fairness in my country. It is so disheartening right now for the treatment in my country. Suffering citizens to stay under the sun and make sure they cast their votes and after all, the election body won't use the result of the votes done by the citizens which is very bad and sad.
I sincerely pray for my country Nigeria for a better change in the election system else, the masses, and the poor won't go out there to vote any more because things are not been done in the right way at all. The presidential election held since two weeks ago has gone to court because the winner was not given his right.
I feel so unfortunate sometimes for being in such a messy country but I believe a better change will soon come, thank you very much for reading through my post, I invite the following people to read through my post, support, comment, and also show that participation, @alegnita, @waterjoe, and @yakspeace.
