Reasons parents ought to teach their children their mother tongue

Greetings dear steemians , hoping we all are doing good in our various angles.
It's with much pleasure I bring you another write up and I hope this post reaches you well.
To begin, it's so much painful how parents of this generation are gradually adopting the white man's language and culture and vividly forgetting our origins nowadays when you visit a relative or someone you both share the same mother tongue and you try speaking to the kids in the house with their maternal or paternal language they will quietly respond in French or in English that I don't understand that type of thing and must often the parents will even be there to back the kids up with some funny reasons.

Parents no longer send their kids to the village for holidays so they can spend sometimes with their grand parents and even learn some one or two words in their mother tongue with the fear that their kids might be bewitched by one of the old grand mother's in the village forgetting that it's the same village they lived there and had to relocate to the city it's so painful how we are gradually loosing our African cultures .
Must often parents do claim and think teaching their kids or speaking the mother tongue to their kids is very weird forgetting that the white man's language (English) is heard or understood by everyone making it very difficult to even hide or have a secret conversation with your children in case you have a visitor at your home .
Just imagine if you have a visitor in your house and you intend to tell your child to serve the visitor but shouldn't over dish the food because you intended that the food should take you guys for two days and you're having some serious discussion with the visitor and don't want to move to the kitchen yourself it will be very difficult to do in English because you can't say those things infront of your guest you will have no option than to move to the kitchen but if you had thought your child your mother tongue it would have been very easy to pass the information .

Another instance where your maternal language can be of help let say you're in a situation where you're with your kids or let's say only your kids are having a walk in the street and something is about to happen which the only thing you need to say only you and your kids ought to know about it but the only thing you are good at is English or French that's how you all are going to lost your life's because you cherish the white man's language than yours.
What am trying to say isn't that we shouldn't speak English or French to our kids but they shouldn't be zero when it comes to their money tongue.thanks for reading.
