Polio Vaccine and its Importance

Polio is a contagious disease caused by a virus that attacks mainly the limbs, weakening them and paralyzing them for the rest of their lives. The paralysed individuals become a burden to his or her family, community and the country as a whole.
How Important is Polio Vaccination?
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect children. For there is currently no cure for polio.

What should be done to avoid polio?
Immunise all target children at all times to strengthen individual and group immune defence system.

Also one should respect the following hygiene methods.
_ Wash hands with clean water and soap before eating and after using toilets;
_ Boil water before drinking or use another method of water purification;
_ Wash fruits and vegetables with clean water before eating;
_ Do not defecate in the open, use latrines or toilets;
_ Clean the yard and surrounding of the house/compound thoroughly.

So with these methods one could prevent polio however the most effective is to take your polio vaccination. And polio vaccines are allocated only for children aged 0-59 months.
So if you do not want your child to be like this👇🏾👇🏾 for the rest of his or her life, ensure that he/she takes all necessary polio vaccines.
