The Diary Game [27/06/2024] // A Day at the Wildlife Center, Botanical Garden and Down Beach.

Steem greetings all the way from the motherland-Cameroon to all my friends on the Steemit ecosystem. It is another awesome day despite all the challenges we have been facing while on vacation due to my mother-in-law's poor health situation. Today, we decided to take the kids to the wildlife center, the botanical gardens and the down beach all in Limbe.

Today, we did not pay any entrance fee because Grandpa took us there as he was once the director of the center. We entered with the kids for free and we were given face masks for free.

Because we were considered as the conservator’s children, we were allowed to move around without any limitations. We started where the African grey parrots were kept. These parrots used to be many and from what we were told most of the parrots died.

We saw different species of monkeys from the baboons, mandrill, drill, Mona monkey, red-capped Mangabey, etc.

After walking around the center, the temperatures were high and we needed something to cool down with. We bought some ice cream that was so helpful to us due to the high temperatures.

We left the center for the botanical gardens. This was my first time entering the garden though it is just adjacent to the wildlife center. When we arrived there, we parked the car and went to the receptionist to pay before entering the garden. I was already tired because of accumulated stress over the previous days.

When we entered the garden, I was expecting to see lots of different species of flowers but it was not the case. One good thing about the garden is the history behind the gardens. We walked to the graveyard where commonwealth war graves commission was. Most of them died because of malaria from what we were told.

We were showed an area in the garden where slaves from different regions were assembled and ship to Europe.

Then, we went to the jungle village and the interesting stories we were told was that once a slave was taken into the jungle village, there was no turning back.

The last place we visited at the botanical garden was an underground house where stubborn slaves were kept underground for punishment. I could not go inside because of the poor nature of the place.

From the garden, we drove to Limbe down beach to relax a bit. Unfortunately, we could not relax for long at the beach because the kids were tired and even I was exhausted.

We had a walk with the kids at the down beach but they complained of fatigue and we sat there to enjoy a bit of the sea breeze before retiring home.

We retired from the outing trip at about 5:00 PM back home. It was indeed a lovely day because there was no rain to ruin the day and the kids enjoyed the outing so well.
