The Diary Game [12/06/2024] // A night of Soccer (2026 World Cup qualifiers).

Steem greetings all the way from motherland-Cameroon to all friends on the Steemit ecosystem. It is another day to share with you all how it all went down on this particular day.

Guys, the World Cup 2026 qualifiers is ongoing and a lot of pressure as the underdogs are a serious threat to the big teams. Our national team has been suffering series of defeats at the just ended AFCON season. More so, the heat within the ministry of sport and physical education(MINSEP) and the Federation of Cameroon Football (FECAFOOT).

Even till date, the drama between these two bodies is something one can not explain in its entirety as each head of these institutions is trying to exercise power. Despite all the power tussle, the fans are caught in between but got no choice but all we needed is to watch good football. All what the fans needed is to see the national team deliver as before.

I got back home from a stressful workday and was so eager to watch the national team perform and do the magic to remain top at their group of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers game.

I switched on the TV and my neighbours came in for us to enjoy the game together. The evening was not a good one as we all were in a tensed mood and not sure if the national team will win the game.

It was at 7:53 PM and both teams came out to the field and ready for the match quick off. Looking at the lineup of both teams we were not really comfortable with the lineup of our national team. He has not maintained the first 11 players that played against Cape Verde and won 4:1. The lineup gave us so much doubt if they gonna pull through with Angola.

After the singing of the national anthem, it was time for the two captains to chose their respective sides and witnessed a coin toss for who to start with the ball. Then the match referees positioned for a snapshot before the match began.

At exactly 8:00 PM, the game started with lots of tension. The first 25 minutes of the game was interesting and Cameroon opened the scores with a brilliant assist from Bassangog whom many at the beginning of the game criticized the coach using him to start the game. Mbeumo Bryan finished the assist with a wonderful shoot that Cameroon was leading 1:0.

Few minutes after the game, Bassangog developed an injury at the 29th minutes. He was substituted with Olivier Ncham who is a good midfielder. This kept us to begin to question the professionalism of the newly appointed coach by MINSEP (one of the reasons for the power tussle with the football federation).

The change of an attacker substituted with a midfielder begin to show us negative effects. The pressure Angolan team started mounting was so difficult for Cameroon team to fire more shots on target. The pressure turnout to a Cameroonian defender giving Angola a an own goal.

I lost hope in the game as the players were not giving us the fans what we wanted to watch. But I still continued watching because we were hoping for a turnaround in our favour.

The game ended and we were not satisfied with the results and everywhere on social media was where most fans poured out their frustration and began raising doubts about the new coach if he will deliver. That is how the evening ended with disappointment. In all, we hope the issues plaguing the national team be resolved. Until my next diary, it is good night from my end.
