Thanks for sharing with us your prestigious tradition that is cherished by many.
We call a "Man" who has gotten married to many wife's as "Bobeh" and we call his wife's as "Nawain".
I have a Kom friend who is like a sister, she used to call the brother Bobeh and I’m familiar with the name Nawain but had no clue about the meaning of such names.
The Karti karti in the image looks android. The typical dish does not require tomatoes and onions.
In our tribe, all male genders possesses a wide majority of powers over the female genders and are responsible for any decision making. The female genders are mostly involved in farm labour and domestic chores. Then the male genders are mostly involved In hunting, Fishing, digging of graves and all activities that involves extra power and intelligence.
In contemporary society, I do not think this aspect of your tradition still holds. I know of many prominent Kom women who are fighting for the rights of women. Most Kom women nowadays are educated and I do not think they will succumb to this.
In Kom, our matrilineal succesion comes from the mother side instead of the father's side(quite a surprise). So when ever an adult male gender dies, all ownership of his properties including his childrens, wives, compounds and inheritance will be inherited by his nephew which is his sister's son.
To me this aspect promotes laziness as your nephew will seat and wait for you to die let them inherit your properties. I know of some Kom men whom because of this aspect of tradition willed their properties to the wife.

Yeah you are right. If you noticed, you will realized that the onion and tomatoes are in the vegetable not in the Karti karti.
You may be right my dear but tradition is tradition and some people still practice this even out of the village and In most parts of the village, they still respect it especially those parts that haven't been civilized yet. What you are saying is true only in remote areas like in cities(though some villagers there still respect it) but once in KOM land, our tradition is always highly respected
I hate this part of our tradition with passion because in most cases, when the nephew inherit their uncle's properties, they become very wicked most especially to their uncle's children and wife. But thank God this tradition doesn't holds once your properties is out of KOM land. This is why most KOM people invest and build their beautiful houses out of KOM land
I think you are totally wrong here. A KOM man can willed his properties to his wife or children only when the properties are out of KOM land(that's why most of KOM people invest out of KOM just like in the case of late Pa Young Micheal). Once in KOM land, tradition most be respected as the man's wife and children won't be able to inherit anything from him
I most recommend that you are 100% right here. We have one of the best tradition and culture. Just the matrilineal succesion that bother us. We hope this stops soon
