What do you know about the day? (Make sure you mention the actual date)
First of all, let us look at the meaning of food safety.
Food Safety can be defined as handling, preparing, and storing food or drink in a way that best reduces the risk of consumers becoming sick from food-borne diseases.
The major reason for food safety is to prevent food from becoming contaminated and causing food poisoning.
The World Food Safety Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 20th December 2018, but was first celebrated on June 7 2019. Hence, the 7th of June of every year is slated for World Food Safety Day.
World Food Safety Day aims to draw attention to and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture etc.
Various activities that take place globally during World Food Safety Day are educational campaigns, workshops, and seminars.

What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community?

This day has brought to our consciousness how to keep, handle, protect and store food, beverages and drinks to reduce the risk of becoming sick.
Who are the active promoters, and what do you think can be added to have more impact on your community?
The active promoters of World Food Safety Day are the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
They promote and support global food safety and protect consumers’ health, they also protect and promote public health by instituting an effective and efficient regulatory system that ensures only the right quality Food, drugs and other related items are manufactured, advertised and distributed
What can be added to have more impact is making this day a public holiday for schools and civil servants. As it is today, many people do not even know that today 7th June is World Food Safety Day but once it is declared a Public holiday, it will settle in our subconscious mind and we will be able to follow the activities of the day.

I charge every friend reading this article to consciously see the need to keep all food safe to reduce the risk of becoming sick.
