Culture is the lifestyle of people. We live differently from place to place in the way we dress, our languages of communication, religion and belief system etc. Because of these differences, we have cross-cultural conflict which generally occurs in the context that individuals are not willing to understand each other's diversity in cultures. Hence, the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development was introduced to take care of such a situation and others.

What do you know about the day? (Make sure you mention the actual date)

Research has shown me that World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is an annual event observed every 21st May. This day was declared by the UN General Assembly in December 2002 even though it was first adopted by UNESCO in 2001. One of the major reasons for introducing the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is to appreciate the values or richness of all cultures in the world and to unite us
The purpose of the day

• To help us understand and respect the different cultures we have and their belief system.
• To promote unity in diversity.
• To promote human rights and freedom
• It offers an opportunity for socialization

The drawing above represents people from various Nations and cultural backgrounds. They join their hands together signifying understanding and respect for their different cultures and their willingness to move together. Finally, the writing on them is talking about the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community?

• it has promoted cross-cultural marriages and friendship: It is very easy to marry today from another culture and this is as a result of this initiative.
• Peaceful and harmonious living: This initiative has reduced communal and cultural crises among people of different cultures causing us to see each other as one.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO): This organization Promotes cultural heritage and the equal dignity of all cultures, they also strengthen the bonds between nations through projects and and activities

National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO): This organization develop cultural materials for promoting the cultural image of Nigeria nationally and internationally. They also give orientation in cultural matters.

What I think can be added to have more impact on our community are:

• School should deliberately observe the day and the students or pupils should be asked to dress in their cultural attire. There should be cultural dance, cultural food and teaching to promote culture.
• There should be a free and formal cultural orientation and display to be organised at the federal, state, and local government.

Conclusion
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development has bridged the gap in relationships among people by causing them to have positive attitudes towards one another regardless of their cultural background or affiliation.
