Hello beautiful steemians and friends!
It is a pleasure taking part in this contest organised by @thegreens. kudos @thegreens! May you keep up the good works.
I am always very excited when topics regarding nature protection pop up in this platform. This is because our planet is dying and need urgent help. Even though our resources may be limited, a little gesture can always matter.

With regards to our contest
I do walk to school almost 3 times a week. Even though i own a motorbike , i prefer at times to walk. I would have love to cycle but i don't own a bicycle yet .
Being a geography student and teacher, i am fully aware walking or cycling is a great way to fight against climate change. This is because by doing both or either of the two;
-We limit the usage of fuel powered vehicles .This go a long way to limit the amount of CFCs and other green house gasses emitted into the atmosphere, thereby reducing global warming.(climate change)

Actually, my walking from the house to school takes just 30 minutes. This makes a total of 1hour 30mins per week.

Walking or cycling may seem stressful but i can put to you without twisting my face that it has numerous socio-economic benefits;
-Walking improves your health by boosting the circulation of blood in your system, It may also be ideal for diabetic and high blood patients.
-Walking can also help eliminate excess fat and also eliminate a lot of toxins from the body through sweating .
-It could also be a great way to save some money you would have use to pay a bike or hire a taxi.
-Furthermore , walking or cycling will lead to the reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels , which will intend reduce emission, thereby reducing the cost of fighting global warming and it's effects , etc.

Conclusion
Walking or cycling is widely practiced by people in most developed countries. I can recalled a day i watched the British prime Minister( Boris Johnson) cycled to work. What a lesson for us to copy. Most of us especially in Africa may work or cycle , not because of the environmental awareness but because of hardship. But i am glad a great number of our youths are getting informed and are taking positive steps. I salute the efforts of @thegreens in educating young Cameroonians and making huge efforts in protecting our planet. Long live @thegreens and long live a green Earth.

Thanks for reading

That statement there got my attention. It's very thoughtful and beautiful of yours to do that. Most people think walking is a sign of low cost of living. You've forgotten #thegreens tag please include it

It's true, poverty and underdevelopment have greatly contributed to environmentalism in Africa.
Keep trying to walk coz we know its difficult for bike owners to walk lol.
