It is always great to have someone that has been on Steem to guide newbies. I had a guide than when I joined, but he wasn't a person I could rely on. He only told me about Steem. He was not even a person who is active here. He hasn't posted in months and he has been like that. So, mostly I found my way to stay here and have fun.

There are many things to learn for newbies. The Steem blockchain wide and there are many things to learn. So, learning things will be a gradual process. Personally, I learned the little I know through reading. I read posts and search things about the blockchain and little by little I understand steem. Some still have a misconception of Steem and Steemit. So, for all newbies that will find these posts, you need to know that Steem differs from Steemit.

Steem is the blockchain that powered Steemit.com and other front-end like busy, actifit and the rest. Steemit is the first interface that was created to use the Steem blockchain. So, when you call Steem, you are referring to the entire ecosystem, but when you call Steemit, you are referring to the most powerful interface to interact with the blockchain.

Understand Steem, Steem Power and Steem Based Dollar.

The Steemit wallet explains this, but I will use a clear language here. Steem is the same with Steem Power, but Steem turns to power when you power it up to your wallet to give you more power to stand firm on the blockchain. The more power you have, the more resource credit, more voting value and more influence on the blockchain. Also, this will bolster your voting $ and gives you better curation reward as you vote on posts. The Steem based dollar is the dollar peg currency on the blockchain.

Now, let focus on tips to use Steem and enjoy the ecosystem.

1. Please don't copy.

Plagiarism is a sin; don't taste from the fruit. Don't say, I can just copy-paste this one. No one would know. The people would know and your account will be a mess. Work your post out yourself. When you like to pick a few points from the internet, clearly use this > to demarcate the line you copied from your text.

2. Find your community

There are many communities here and many projects/dapps that are into different things. Explore these communities and projects and look for the one that does the work that you do. I have seen many people doing great with art, science, tech, music, DIY and other cool stuff. And they get good values on them.

3. Post valuable post consistently.

It is not just by posting anything. People have different interests and the contents they like to consume. I like to read posts I can learn something from. So, you must make your post valuable by sharing good thoughts in everything you write about. Also, post consistently. Ensure you make a minimum of a post a day, but if you could post 2 or 3 would be great and anything beyond could be spamming.

4. Interact but don’t spam.

The interaction would help you a lot. Read posts and interact with them, but don't spam. Comments like "hey good post, great work, nice post, well done" are considered as spam as they do not have real value on posts. Share your thoughts on every post and be original always.

5. Ignore the money, have fun

Yes, your mindset is to come here and start making some money. You are right, but it takes some hard work and consistency. You can write a good post and get $0.01 on it, don't get angry or weary because of that. Focus on fun, the things you are learning. The friends you are making, the new exposure you are getting and have fun always. Know that the dollar will locate you but you just need patience.

6. Format your content for readability and professionally

You need to know some HTML syntax that would make your content look nice. - Get them here.

Also, format your post well. Don't write chuck up text. Space up your paragraph as the right place and use puntuations to enhance readability.

Writing tools like Hemingway and Grammarly would help you to fix some minor errors you might have in your texts.

7. Celebrate yourself, and have fun.

Happiness comes from the mind. You can't get what you don't give yourself. Learn to stay happy and positive. Be expectant, but don't feel bad when you get little. Focus on the fun you get here. Spend time with likeminded and learn from them. Ask for help from community members whenever you need support.

There you have it. Enjoy the Steem ecosystem.
