The impact of telecommunication in our society

Telecommunication is a technologically inclined method of communication. It is the use of electrical signal and electromagnetic waves from one point to the other to effect communication. It is a basic need for the development of a society because it plays a basic role in its operations especially in families, business and governmental sectors.

Examples of telecommunication are radio, broadcasting systems, computerized networks i.e. telephone,internet, etc. These medium are used to pass information from one place to the other. They are effective business tools to relate and coordinate activities within and outside business environments. It builds an atmosphere for teamwork by allowing employees to relate easily from one end to the other.

The introduction of telecommunication into our society has immensely improved our society via new ideas that make life easier unlike in the stone age when things were not technologically inclined, life was more difficult and administration was not very effective.

For example, in the educational system, telecommunication has done a lot of improvement by making learning easier than before. People learn new things easier and faster. Now student and educators in quest of knowledge engage in distance learning education via the internet to learn from different parts of the world. A lot of knowledge and ideas are shared through websites where people log in to acquire more knowledge to improve their skills. On the internet, there are books, videos, educational materials which can be downloaded to carry out more research to improve their knowledge.

During this COVID 19 pandamonium when schools are conventionally on hold, e-learning has been very useful in the educational sector. Students and wards at different levels have been linked with a diverse avenue to stay on to learning while at home. Many are learning through the e-center, encyclopedia, group chat, and other mediums.

In the business sector, many people have adopted teleconferencing and video call, short message systems to improve their output, improving their product for more productivity and adding more value to economic growth. It creates an avenue for effective follow up of their customers to evaluate their services to their customers even after purchase, sometimes they make a feedback call, pass evaluation forms etc, to access their performance in other to work harder and improve in the areas where their customers need them to improve on.

Also, advertise the goods and service through internet and make online delivery of goods to their customers after purchase.
The economy at large has gained much improvement through telecommunication, which has in return improved the economic status. Countries also link up with other countries to share new ideas and work on areas where they need to improve on, these have helped to boost the country’s GDP and GDP per capital and the development of economies generally.

A lot of hazards has also been prevented in the economy as a result of telecommunication, whereby prompt informations are been dispatched to save lives and properties.

In conclusion, telecommunication has done a lot of positive change both to man and the society at large since its inception, especially in my immediate society. But people should also be encouraged to use their telecommunication skills positively and not otherwise.
