Introduction

Hello dear friends, i am happy to be here to take part in this contest title "My family relic." by Steem Venezuela, it ia an interesting topic and bellow is my family antique history.

I come from the family of Yakubu Lingmu, a very large extended family. All the family uses our great father's name as our middle name, the women change there's after marriage. Based on history my grandmother's mother told me that our family has a mark/incision which signifies the family's indicative differences. As time goes on, many children in the family line became educated and expose, so they see no need for the family to sign incisions and a suggestion was borough to stop the act.

My grandfather refuses the idea and said this is a heritage from our great grandfathers, and it will be a course for us to scrap it just like that, but he ask us the children to go that the elders will find a remedy to stop the incision with an alternative that will favor all.

After long deliberation, a conclusion was drawn that all of us will be given a hereditary 💍 Ring, the ring will signify Value, Worth and measure the Generational lineage. We do hold a family feast every December in two years intervals, and every breed of the lingmu Lineage is given that ring on the feast when he or she turns 8 years of age.

A brief description of the object.

My family Antique is a ring, my grandfather always tells us a story about the ring that was given to him by his father(my Great grandfather) who died at 125 years of Age. The sample of the ring was duplicated and given to all the lingmu lineage to replace the incision mark that serves as the family hereditary doctrine.

The ring is in a circle with no end edges, it signifies Unity and the bond that exist among family members, all my family guides the ring given to us by our grandfather with care and value.

How to acquire that antique.

By estimation, the main lingmu hereditarian ring given to my grandfather is approximately 350 -400 years old, and if my grandfather dies, the ring will be transferred to his oldest son. When a child turns 8 years, in the Lingmu feast, the ring will be duplicated and cooked in a clay pot for 12 hours with some leaves which signifies unity and Love, then the child will take his bath with that water and will be given the ring as his family mandates relic.

Some conditions applied to be eligible for the Lingmu hereditarian ring include;

  • The family of the child and the child must agree to accept the family lineage name 'Lingmu' to be part of his name.
  • must agree to Love and help any member of the Family with no grudges or complains
  • To adhere to the rules of the lingmu family( I.e sending #200 monthly contribution and attending the family bi-annual meetings)
  • among others
Share with us a story, tale, story, or anecdote that you have of that family relic.

Apart from the process of following the cultural conditions to get a hereditarian ring for the lingmu family linkage, the main ring is transferred to the eldest son of the family. I must say maybe is because of my family's nature, but we are so united and we love ourselves so much. I m proud to be the Lingmu family. The antique object we share is not just about the ring but about the significant value and meaning it possesses. It is past from generation to generation and it keeps on replication the oneness of the family circle.

A selfie of my Relic.
my selfie with my antique on my neck
My picture with my family antique (my ring), I choose to put my own on my neck to see it always and to use it as a necklace. I value this Ring with all of me.

Conclusion
Family Antique is always a good thing to have, it keeps the name and binds the family more, it is not about the know and physical value but the intrinsic value and significance of that antique. The antique means more to the owner than what people see feasibly. I wish to invite @mjerry @ishayachris @josepha to join this contest.

@yakspeace, as a family heirloom ring, it shows the love and unity of the whole family, having it in your hands is of great importance for each member of the family

Since it represents the cultural tradition of your family lineage.

The main Lingmu ring has a great number of years, it sure is an honor to have it.

Thank you for sharing the story of your family heirloom with friends in the community.

I say goodbye wishing you have a happy day.
