SEC-S13W6 – Let's talk about things that could improve the world
Hey Steemian friends!
If you know even a little bit about Sri Lanka you know that we are in a big mess. This chaotic situation always fill me with "How could I make this place a better one!". Every time when there's an injustice occurs (Which almost happens every hour in this part of the world) I think, "Are we really letting these things happen even in 2023!?". So to answer these questions, I will write to you about a whole lot of things I see need improvements, but don't expect optimistic ideas from me!
👉 What I want to change? |
---|
We, as a community, often lean towards the easy targets and always blame the education or the system. So this might be the answer! If we need to change things we have to look for our systems and education. But will it work in the practical world? Well recently, we tried to shake things up in Sri Lanka by organizing a riot that successfully booted the president out. Hurrah.. huge success for the people, don’t you think? It is the best time to change the whole system. Not quite!
It turned out, that changing systems is like trying to untangle a knot with oven mitts on, it's not as easy as it seems. The roots are too deep for average citizens to pull out. So, while dreaming of a entire system overhaul, the reality check hits hard, it's not entirely in the hands of us regular folks.
But hey, we can surely change our education system, right? we sure can for our own kids. This also cannot be done on a mass scale because government has to interfere if we want to see big changes. Sadly, our kids are stuck with an ancient syllabus which has no use whatsoever. So, if we could somehow upgrade education globally, the world might just become a different place overall.
👉 Who do these possible changes depend on? |
---|
Simple answer: it's all about the future. Anything we decide now will have a massive effect on our future generations. Basically, we are at a crossroads, It is our choice to choose between taking a turn into uncivilized beings or taking a giant leap into a more enlightened & better world.
👉 Tools and Action |
---|
We all can think and come up with these great ideas for improvements. Alright, then what? Implementing whatever we think and suggest into action isn't as easy as it sounds. The main tool or ingredient to put anything into action would be MONEY! In our society, whoever's got the big bucks gets the red carpet treatment.
However, stories like Malala Yousafzai make me believe and give me a glimmer of hope. Yet, do I possess the tools and guts like her? Honestly, not to that level. I'll fight against corruption and injustice whenever I face them but what I lack seems I simply think that there are better leaders than me. But apparently and sadly my country haven’t found one. On global stage every top country seems very busy trying to be the next global power and destroy one another. So where does this world go is a really a big question mark.
👉 Would anyone imitate me for a collective achievement? |
---|
I'm not so sure. To make someone follows me, I've got to influence them first. Ideologically speaking, people seem too caught up in their own worlds to give a damn about the collective good. In Sri Lanka, we have sort of one family vibe when crises hit, but give it a week, and we're back to carving our own paths, forgetting almost what happened 07 days back. The world seems more divided than ever, nationalism, religion, cultures, political ideologies, you name it. It's like we've forgotten that we're all human being who are yet evolving.
Addressing these issues feels like trying to catch smoke with bare hands. No matter how hard we will try we won't solve everything. I'm afraid we might end up with more problems than solutions as the way that everything happening right now. All this wars! pandemics! global warming??? Sooner or later, our beautiful planet could be on the brink of an unfortunate extinction event, and that's all thanks to us.
Thank you for this though provoking c ontest @teamvenezuela. Your team brought great contest through out this season. I would like to invite @carlaisl, @crisvera & @anasuleidy to participate in this contest.
Thank you.
Peace to all 🙏

Greetings friend, wonderful reflection. Without a doubt, it is necessary to improve education at a global level, since this is the root of all the problems that are happening today. A change in the system can be difficult but not impossible, it is up to everyone to do their bit to support this so that a change finally occurs. Education is the foundation of nations and societies! The world needs a change now!
Blessings and much success!!
Absolutely! Education for our future generation is the only way out of all this chaos. The world must see some rapid changes in the next 10 years, or we will be in huge trouble altogether.
Hola @virajherath
I understand that you have a vision that is not very encouraging as you look at the big picture. Without a doubt, the answer lies in changing the systems and paradigms that govern culture worldwide... Much can be achieved through education, starting from home.
I believe that every big change starts from the base of the pyramid and not from the top, I mean fundamental changes. It's like starting to unknot a coil, you start from the outside, and not from the center. And thinking like this you will see that there is a lot we can do.
Friend, a reminder: remember that to stay in club5050, you must power up at least once a month.
Thank you very much for participating in the challenge, I wish you success.
Oops.. I missed that power up! All okay now 👍 would have been a 10/10 🤦♂️
I agree with the change from the bottom. However, we have complex societal structures that won't understand certain levels when it comes to complete system change! However, as you rightly said we have to start from somewhere! After what happened in my country I think a more balanced approach, combining grassroots initiatives with top-down strategies makes more sense to me.
Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.
