Hi steemians,
I welcome you all to my blog today. Still in week 5 of the steemit engagement challenge for season 7. I'm delighted to present my entry to this wonderful contest today titled my family relic. Every family has a relic that they keep for some reason and today I will be sharing with you all that of my family. Without further ado, let's go straight into the topic using the questions below as a guide.

In general, a brief description of the object.

My family relic is called a charcoal iron. This iron was used by my father's father. And it is believed to be the inheritance of the family and it doesn't get spoiled since the time it came into the family. Charcoal iron is used to iron clothes most especially before the coming of electricity in our home town.

Even electricity came to my town, we still treasure charcoal iron because it irons clothes better than electrical iron. The image above is the charcoal iron that was used by my father's father and today it is used by us the children and we intend to pass it to our children who will, in turn, pass it to their children because it is the family's asset.

How to acquire that antique.

mine.PNG

You can acquire the electric iron by buying it in the market or from a blacksmith shop. In our case, my father's father was a blacksmith hence he produced this one, specially for the family. He made it so special and that made it to be our family relic because it has been there for ages. I'm so delighted to share it with you all today.

If you need it, you can acquire it from the market as it is very cheap and affordable. Currently, it is sold at the rate of NGN 6,000 which is equivalent to about 36 steem at the time of writing this task. Before this time the amount was very less.

Share with us a story, tale, story or anecdote that you have of that family relic.

At a tender age, I was still in primary school at then, I decided to iron my uniform myself after seeing how beautiful the uniform of my friend looks. On that faithful day, no one was at home, I got charcoal and put it inside the iron and then I started ironing the uniform without knowing that I was supposed to have water beside me to reduce the hotness of the iron and avoid burning my clothes.

When I started, I saw that the iron is getting hotter, I ran to get water but before I could return, part of my uniform was consumed by the fire and when my parents came, they insisted that I must wear the uniform like that to school because they asked me to wait if they come back they will do it for.

I was so ashamed that very day because the clothes tore on my buttocks and everyone was just laughing at me that very day. When they finally got the uniform fixed for me, I decided to learn from my father how to properly use the iron and till today, I'm the one ironing his clothes because I have become an expert completely in that regard.

Conclusion

mine.PNG

The charcoal iron has been in my family for a very long time. According to my father, they used it very well because they weren't having electricity at then and as a government worker, he needs to be always clean and properly dressed before going to work. Though I had a terrible experience with it on my first attempt to use it, today I use it more conveniently than any other iron.

I want to invite a few friends to also join this contest today if they have not presented their entries. I invite @stef1, @wilmer1988, @fantvwiki, @malikusman1 and @lavanyalakshman.

What a laugh your story, well we must pay attention, friend, I had never seen that model, his grandfather was a genius in blacksmithing, delighted with his relic, I am pleased to know that he cares for it and learned to use it greetings

@simonnwigwe, Your story about the family heirloom is very interesting, in my home I am the one who irons, my wife has never liked that work.

Therefore, since I got married 40 years ago, I iron my clothes.

You, after that experience when we were children, today I was also an expert at ironing.

Here in my country I have never seen a carbon iron but without a doubt with the electrical problems that exist today it would be very well received by us.

Since it is very practical and with the fact of having water so that the clothes do not burn, it would be perfect.

Thank you for introducing your family heirloom to friends in the community.

I say goodbye wishing you a happy day

Thanks for the review my friend.

Saludos!!

I really enjoyed reading your post on your family relic, the charcoal iron. It is amazing to see how even with the availability of electricity, the charcoal iron is still treasured in your family and is still being used to iron clothes. Your family relic is a valuable item that holds a lot of memories and history, and it is great to learn about it. I wish you all the best in this contest.

Saludos @simonnwigwe
