Introduction

We have a lot of people around us with different attributes, some we feel it's genuine characters while some are temporary with a high probability of change when these individuals experience a change of state, in finances, knowledge, exposure, and so on.

Well, I love to pick clues from things around me because I pay attention to every detail and this contest has just allowed me to share a piece with the audience on this lovely platform.

Can You Keep Up?

Babs (assigned name) is one of the guys that lives in one of the flats in the house I rented here. We met about a year ago as tenants and our first interaction was when he asked for my contact details to me add up to a house's group on a messaging App.

Babs' occupation was not quite clear, maybe he's also a freelancer or anything else, but I know he's always indoors. Some months ago, it became so evident that he was financially unstable, quite extremely, I know this because I have helped him with some mobile data subscriptions on a few occasions during that period. That's nothing to me anyway, it's just to show how well I know he was broke.

Other occupants of other flats who are young people of Babs age would step out of the flat to play together, chat and even eat together. I'm not always in these gatherings because most times their discussion is always outside my field of interest except on a few occasions when I would join for special discussions about the happenings in the house.

The relationship between Babs and the other guys was like that of rice and a waterlogged land, that's what you see from afar and even looking closer, they had a healthy relationship. Spending almost every hour of the day with your friends is an indication of a strong bond.

A few months later, there was an evident change in Babs way of living, he seems to be financially stable again, a time we could say he's independent now and would extend love to his friends with whom he shared the rough times. But that's not the case, Babs cut off from his friends, and he wouldn't join their discussions any longer.

The friends narrated how much he has changed while discussing among themselves. They highlighted that on a few occasions when Babs comes back from the shopping mall with lots of goodies, even if they jokingly ask him to gift some, he would ignore them and make his way to his flat.

You know they say nothing lasts forever, that's very true. Recently, over the past few months, it became so clear Babs was broke again and frequently joined his friend's gatherings again. What a human! I believe many of these guys would always remember the time he deserted them and would be mindful of to what extent they can share with him because he would still leave them when he becomes financially stable again.

I asked myself on a few occasions, why has Babs left initially when he isn't sure he can maintain the distance, if things change? Why can't he keep up? Doesn't he feel any shame at all coming back? Would he leave when things become jolly for him again? I found an answer in my head which is that he would still leave again, unfortunately, I may not be an occupant of the house to witness that period again.

Lessons
  • If you are certain that you can't keep up, don't start a relationship.

  • Nothing lasts forever, it's disgusting if you return to your vomits because you are hungry again.

  • For the sake of humanity, be kind to those who have been good to you, even to your enemies. It should be an attitude.

  • Your negative attitude towards people leaves a hole within them and blocks your way of getting favor from them in the future. Just as fire spreads on petrol, they tend to share your bad side with other people.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this is a true life story of the person given the nomenclature Babs in this story who was humble towards his friends during his low time but eventually left them when he became comfortable and came back when he hits his low again. Such an attitude is far from humanity.

If you can't keep up, it's not worth starting it. Being real to people goes a long way to making the world a better place. It's a pleasure taking part in this and I hereby invite @dave-hanny, @gwillchrist, and @inspiracion to participate in the contest.

Hola @fredquantum
Que gusto leerte y ver todo lo que cambia una persona, cuando tiene poder, pero mi imagino, cómo le cambio la vida, cuando todo es quitado.

Their condition is always terrible whenever they are back to their lows. It's a very bad attitude. Thanks for leaving a comment on this.

Thank you for the support, @f2i5.

Yes friend! I will definitely show my participation soon.

For the sake of humanity, be kind to those who have been good to you, even to your enemies. It should be an attitude.

I have taken my time to read through the story, the point you made on the lessons learned is just the fact about life, there no gain in revenge or pay back.
Thanks for the invite and I wish you the very best in this contest.

I'm glad you stopped by.

Babs have not spared some time to understand that theory rather he chooses to be selfish. That's his nature, a bad one. Thanks for coming around, @roselena.

@fredquantum, Young Bads, in my personal opinion, is an opportunist, selfish man who has no sense of what true friendship is.

He will not change what if he can change are those who are around him and do not pay more attention to him at the right time.

He cares about that for his personal well-being regardless of what he thinks or feels to others.

I have had people like that around me immediately upon realizing it, I don't give them another chance, I get away from them as soon as possible.

There are many similar stories with those egocentric and selfish people, there come times in their lives when they are left alone and no longer have anyone to support them.

I say goodbye wishing you have a happy day.

You are very right, we have people like that all around us. They come around to seek help but leave whenever it seems you ain't too
capable to provide help any longer or when they have regained their strength thereby forgetting the good times spent together.

Undoubtedly, they are selfish and dangerous people who can do anything to get what they want. Babs is one of those kinds of human. Thanks for the quality interaction and verification, @albenis.

It's unfortunate that Babs chose to distance himself from his friends during his financially stable times and only came back when he hit his low again. It's a good reminder to always be kind to those who have been good to us, even to our enemies. You are right to mention, negative attitudes towards people can leave a hole within them and block our way of getting favors from them in the future. It's important to treat people with respect and kindness, regardless of our circumstances. Thank you for sharing this story and the lessons that can be learned from it

Hi @fredquantum,the questions you wrote are totally appropiate and not so easy to answer.Every person is different to each other and sometimes we do not understand why they act in the way they do but time will give those answers.I agree with you: we shoud be real and humble in any situation in life.

Your article is practical and thought-provoking, encouraging us to be mindful of our actions' impact on others. Thankyou
