Hola, hola amigos espero y estén bien, hoy quiero tocar un tema super importante para mí, y por eso quiero agradecer el espacio de @steemvenezuela para hacer la difusión de esta información. Verán, en el mundo hay millones de personas que sufrimos de condiciones de salud poco conocidas, como en mi caso que padezco la anemia falciforme (o sicklel cell).

El mes que viene se celebra el Día Mundial de los falcémicos (19 de junio), y no muchas personas conocen esta enfermedad crónica. Así que estaré compartiendo mucha información. Inmediatamente al decir que soy anémica la gente asume que se trata de un tema alimenticio, y no los culpo, mi hemoglobina normal es de 7 u 8 (con suerte). Pero mi anemia es crónica. Nací con ella, y no tiene cura, solo tratamiento.

Diré el concepto de mis propias palabras porque llevo 28 años con esta enfermedad. La falcemia o enfermedad de células falciformes se trata de una mutación en la hemoglobina. El rasgo falciforme predomina en países como África, Nigeria, India... entre otros. Sin embargo, hay pacientes de esta anemia en muchas partes del mundo, por ejemplo en Latinoamérica: Brasil y Panamá son los países en donde hay más población falcémica, esto lo sé por mis amistades allá. De hecho en Panamá antes de casarse piden a la pareja hacerse la prueba para detectar la posibilidad de tener el gen.

Las crisis se deben a que el glóbulo rojo se deforma tipo una medialuna obstaculizando los vasos sanguíneos por lo que se detona un fuerte dolor que solo es tratado con suero y analgésicos. Debido a estas crisis, los demás órganos pueden afectarse debido al bajo nivel de oxígeno en la sangre.
