Understanding not love
When it comes to parenting and intimate relationships, I believe that understanding is far more vital than love. As a psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I can assure you that I have never had an adult complain about her parents being overly accommodating during her childhood. Similarly, I've known a lot of divorced couples who are still in love but never really knew each other.
