My Actifit Report Card: June 16 2024
I headed out to Granite Basin again for a tougher hike with Lulu but fortunately it was a milder (albeit) very sunny 🌞 day.
It was the usual very quiet Sunday so the roads had little traffic and nobody was out walking this morning. It was easy to keep Lulu moving along so we wrapped up our two miles quickly and wrrr off to the Basin before the heat hit.
The lake had plenty of people enjoying the nice day playing in the water or just lounging on the beach.
Lulu took a good drink and I wet her rowboat before we headed out onto the 351 trail that wound along the hillside above the very dry creek from the lake.
Lulu stayed just a few feet ahead of me as opposed to most times when she would be way out in the lead (maybe because it was a tougher hike and we were in the sun much of the time.
The trail was narrow, rocky and rolling but we didn't start any serious climbing until we crossed over the creek bed and began the return leg. The trail we gradually gained elevation until we were a couple of hundred feet up. From there we zigzaged along the rocky terrain until we descended back down into the pines and cooler shade.
It was nice that the trailhead was next to the beach parking lot so that we could finish up with a rest at the lake - which was Lulu's favorite spot.
