Sunset and moonrise over snow - Actifit: February 14 2022
Hello friends. This walk started with the glow of the late day sun lowering into the trees and the moon rising to hover directly above our trail.
That was the very last of the sun on the snow, after an amazingly bright winter day!
Our trail takes us out to the lake, which will remain frozen for several more weeks. There is a bridge we like to cross that has a very quiet, smaller part of the lake on one side with a few homes and boat docks.
On the other side is a commercial marina (closed for the season) and a lot of boat docks. (And further out there are ice fishing huts on the lake but I ignored them on this trip.)
Of course the boat docks are not in use this time of year, but I love the geometry of them and I often photograph them. I find the results pleasing and artistic somehow.
What do you think? Am I crazy that these docks are a thing of beauty against the white backdrop of the frozen lake?
This next picture is of the marina parking lot. I love the swooping vehicle tires as they made curves around the lot, and beyond are the masts of some winterized boats that are left at the marina all winter long.
And here’s a picture of my husband. As you can see, we were bundled for the cold. It was about 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
After that we headed back down the trail toward home. At first there was still some color in the sky from the fading sun.
But then it was gone completely, leaving a blue-gray sky. And that’s when I saw that the moon was high in the sky right over our trail.
