Oh deer! Actifit: January 27 2022
I went walking at dusk just by suiting up for the cold and stepping out my front door. The deer like our neighborhood because it is protected. There are woods all around the edges and through the middle, so there is a deer super highway in my backyard. I had seen them parade through right before my walk, and then cam across them several times as I cruised my neighborhood.
I went looking for sunset pictures and there they were.
Generally they just stop and stare. If you get too close or move too rapidly, they will run. But otherwise they just watch, waiting to determine if you’re a threat.
It was a nice evening, and I enjoyed seeing the colors of the setting sun through the woods. It’s a peaceful experience to walk around my neighborhood this time of year. It’s very cold and few people, if any, are out and about. So I can enjoy being lost in my thoughts, or listen to an audio book (currently Still Life, by Louise Penny — a murder mystery) and enjoy the view.
