Giroud Breaks French Scoring Record

This world cup has seen a few minor records broken, but I think this one has to be the biggest thus far, with Oliver Giroud becoming Frances's all-time top scorer.

Giroud netted France’s opening goal in their 3-1 win over Poland to help the defending champions reach the quarter-finals of the tournament in Qatar. The veteran striker was set up by hotshot Kylian Mbappe before finding the bottom corner.

It was Giroud’s 52nd goal in his 117th appearance for Les Bleus – a tally that makes him France’s all-time record goal scorer. I think his goal scoring is impressive but the fact that he did it in 10 years and managed to get 117 appearances in a team that has so many good forwards is even more impressive.

From one Gunner To Another

He overtook France and Arsenal striking legend, Thierry Henry, in the history books – a wonderful achievement that prompted a message from Ozil on Twitter. Mesut Ozil was delighted to see his former Arsenal teammate Olivier Giroud

The two of them created many great goals for Arsenal so its fitting Ozil be giving him a hand a gain.

The top 5 scorers for France as it stands today is two Gunners, Giroud and Henry

If there is one player that could break this record in the future its Mbappe he is on 33 goals now and has a long career ahead of him, but props to Giroud, he sure did this the hard way and deserves all the praise he is getting.

He is a top player and has been highily underatted.
