Arsenal Start Europa Off With Away Win
The Gunners began their Europa League campaign with a trip to Switzerland this evening. After their sublime run of form but came unstuck at the weekend Mikel Arteta was eager for his side to bounce back quickly and he started a fresh side with 3 first teamers in Gabriel, Martinelli and Xhaka.
While the rest of the squad were all players who were short of game time and it showed, apart from some impressive moments from Viera and a great debut from Marquinhos, who really looks like he could push Saka for a start the team looked pretty laboured
They carved out chances but were not clincal enough, even with an early lead backing them.
Eddie Nkeita took his first start and it looked to be a blunder of a performance as he conceded a penalty but he did make up for it in the second half scoring the winner. Nketia also bagged himself a record by becoming the fifth Englishman to score in three consecutive starts in the competition, after Bobby Zamora, Jermain Defoe, Harry Kane, and James Tavernier.
