Ashenda, also known as Shadey, is a traditional Tigrayan festival celebrated in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. The celebration has its origin in Orthodox Ethiopian Christian religion and the celebration is also conducted in Amhara region of Ethiopia. It usually takes place in August and is a time of singing, dancing, and merriment, often involving young women who dress in colorful clothing and perform cultural dances. Ashenda is a significant cultural event that brings communities together to celebrate and showcase their traditions.
