The Vice President Releases the Departure of the First Group of Aceh Province Hajj Pilgrims.

Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, KH. Ma'ruf Amin, directly saw off the departure of the first batch of prospective Aceh pilgrims at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport, Wednesday, 29/5/2024.

The Vice President arrived in Aceh via Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport at 16.59 WIB. After landing, he immediately released the 393 Acehnese Hajj pilgrims on the runway as they were about to board the plane.

On this occasion, the Vice President was accompanied by Acting Governor of Aceh Bustami, Aceh Police Chief Achmad Kartiko, Pangdam Iskandar Muda Niko Fahrizal, Acting Regent of Aceh Besar Muhammad Iswanto, and a number of other members of Forkopimda Aceh.

The Vice President also greeted the Hajj pilgrims on the plane and stated that the pilgrims looked healthy and happy.

"This afternoon I accompanied the Acehnese Hajj pilgrims to their departure. Acehnese pilgrims wait on average for 34 years to depart," said Ma'ruf Amin.

Regarding this, the Vice President asked the Ministry of Religion to increase the quota for Hajj departures for Aceh so that the queue times are not too long. "Some of the congregation are old, there are women who are 82 years old, but they are still healthy and happy," he added.

The Vice President also said that accompanying officers had been prepared to guide Hajj pilgrims, especially those who were elderly.

"I also remind the congregation to be aware of the hot weather in the holy land which reaches 43 degrees. They are asked to always bring water and not force themselves in worship so that the mandatory Hajj pilgrimage is not left behind," said Ma'ruf Amin.

The Vice President also reminded us to carry out our worship well and get closer to Allah.

Previously, the Acting Governor of Aceh, Bustami, released prospective Acehnese Hajj pilgrims who were members of the first flying group (kloter) at the Hajj Dormitory, Banda Aceh.

In his speech, Bustami hoped that all Acehnese people who had the opportunity to perform the Hajj would take advantage of this valuable opportunity by carrying out various practices prescribed by the law, so that they would have a prosperous Hajj.

"I am sure that all prospective pilgrims who will depart this year have prepared themselves optimally. "Important matters regarding the Hajj have of course been conveyed by various parties, including preparations for the Hajj rituals," said Bustami.

However, Bustami appealed to all prospective Hajj pilgrims to maintain their health while in the Holy Land. He also reminded that extreme weather changes, different natural conditions, and different food tastes would affect the condition of the congregation.

Furthermore, Bustami said that the theme of this year's Hajj is "Elderly Friendly Hajj", which emphasizes the importance of paying attention to pilgrims who have reached old age. The government has also appointed several officers for each group who will guide and assist the congregation. Hajj pilgrims are asked not to hesitate to consult if they experience problems, both in terms of worship and health.

Bustami also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Kakanwil Kemenag Aceh and his staff, the leadership of the Aceh People's Representative Council, ulama, related services and agencies, Garuda Indonesia Banda Aceh, Angkasa Pura Sultan Iskandar Muda, leaders of print and electronic media, as well as all parties who have actively participate so that the departure process for the 1445 H Hajj pilgrimage through the Aceh Embarkation can be carried out well.
