Ahead of the Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in September 2024, various innovations continue to be made to make it easier for guests and participants who come.

One of the main innovations is the implementation of digitized transactions using QRIS, which was prepared by MSME players in Aceh.

Head of BI Aceh Province Representative, Rony Widijarto P, stated that Bank Indonesia (BI) Aceh would make transactions easier for guests and athletes who came to Aceh for the PON.

"We will feel the economic impact of the Aceh-North Sumatra PON. We see that this national level event has a significant direct impact," said Rony in a talk show regarding the impact of PON on the Aceh economy and digitalization strategies, which took place at the BI Aceh Auditorium on Tuesday (21/5/2024).

This talk show was broadcast live by TVRI Aceh and hosted by Ida. Present as speakers included representatives of Bank Aceh, Hendra, IBGR BSI Deputy Saiful Musadir, and the Head of Domestic Trade of the Aceh Industry and Trade Department, Marzuki.

Rony explained that the people of Aceh will feel the positive impact of PON, especially in the food, beverage and other culinary sectors.

The physical renovation that has begun is also expected to have a long-term impact on Aceh's economy. "Moreover, in 2023, Aceh's economic growth will increase by 4.23 percent," he added.

BI Aceh targets economic growth in 2024 to reach between 4 percent and 4.48 percent. "Aceh's economic growth will be driven by household consumption. Physical preparation for PON is seen as a form of investment," explained Rony.

Apart from the sports aspect, PON is also expected to increase the number of guest visits to Aceh, including athletes and officials, which is estimated to reach 20 thousand people.
