HIMALAYA SALT

Himalayan salt is a pink salt that comes from the Khewra Salt Mine, the largest salt mine in the foothills of the Himalayas, Pakistan. This salt is claimed to be the purest salt in the world.

Basically, Himalayan salt is similar to common table salt used for cooking. What distinguishes the two is Himalayan salt has a pink color with a coarser texture and larger grain size than table salt which resembles crystals.

Himalayan salt contains 98 percent sodium chloride and a number of other minerals including potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur and iron.

Therefore, the color of Himalayan salt is different from the color of salt in general. The pink color and different taste of this salt comes from the mineral and iron content in it.
