Why Steem Would Work As A UBI
While it is possible that individual transfers of a cryptocurrency could support people, the nature of Steem rewarding both authors and the supporters changes the paradigm from being an act of charity to an act of selfishness. In the Steem environment, when you help someone else by upvoting their post, you are rewarded. If you help others, you help yourself.
If you give money to someone today as a charity, you will have less money to share tomorrow. When you upvote someone on Steem today, you will have the same Steem Power tomorrow and more in a week. This increase makes Steem a self-funded #UBI. The biggest argument against UBI is the question of who supplies the funds. That argument is irrelevant with Steem.
