What is a Universal Basic Income (UBI)
A Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a system that creates a series of payments to everyone in a population regardless of their position in society. UBI is unlike a welfare system that targets only specific groups in a population. Currently, we all receive a basic income, but it is zero dollars (or whatever your country’s currency is). In many countries, there is a property tax on the land you own. In these countries, people have a negative dollar basic income. The goal of a UBI is to change this and provide people with a positive dollar basic income.
