Some people will see this topic as a joke - Part 3
During Part 1, I looked at the 100 thousand year cycle caused by contraction and expansion of Earth's orbit around the sun. We are currently in an almost circular orbit, and the closest perihelion (meaning we received the most influence from the sun) occurred on January 05, 2020.
During Part 2, I looked at the Obliquity of the Earth. This is a roughly 40,000-year cycle and we are roughly halfway between the greatest tilt moving toward the minimum tilt.
Our protective magnetic field is affected by this tilt. This illustration is a little deceptive. The Sun is a million times larger than the Earth. Also, most of us have the idea that Earth's rotation is strictly on a horizontal plane. Sometimes Earth is above the Sun's equator and sometimes it is below. If fluctuates on the verticle plane.
The magnetic field is not a ball. It is a torus (donut), that leaves the polar regions open to more or less solar particles. This picture illustrates the optimum level of protection. Energy and particles from the sun wrap around the Earth leaving it unaffected. Energy and particles entering our northern pole are called Aurora Borealis and from the southern pole are called Aurora Australis.
I have witnessed the "Northern Lights" and they are truly inspiring. If we are below the Sun's equator and the tilt exposes more of the north or we are above and the tilt exposes the south, more energy and particles slip by our protective barrier. Over eight thousand years ago, the tilt of the Earth and its position in relation to the Sun's equator allowed enough energy and particles to enter the Northern Hemisphere to melt and explains why we would see the decline in temperatures according to the Greenland Ice Core Data in the last 8-10 thousand years and intermittently going back to 120,000 years ago.
