Current Example of “Steem” Basic Income
The basic income program that I am most familiar with on Steem is provided by @steembasicincome.
If I connect with someone on Steem, I will frequently nominate them to SBI.
You do so by transferring Steem to @steembasicincome with the user's id you wish to nominate in the description. As an example, the transaction above would look like this: 
If you wish to see your current balance, you type in the following into a post or reply.

You then receive a reply describing the status of your SBI account (example below).

I earned the majority of my units by nominating others—typical of the Steem Environment. By helping others, you help yourself. The reward system uses several alternate accounts. If you only have a few units, you will only receive a vote periodically (as the reward accumulates).
Steem Basic Income is a long-term investment.
