Mi papá se llamaba Alfredo Valero Requena, hijo de un matrimonio ejemplar, Francisca y Antonio, era el mayor de sus cuatro hermanos, Alfredo de niño (10 a 12 años), contaba él, que estudiaba en las mañanas y en las tardes trabajaba en lo que se presentara, hacía mandados, vendía los dulces que hacía mi abuela para ayudar al sustento del hogar y también hacía alpargatas. Siempre estaba dispuesto a colaborar en lo que fuese necesario, para ganar dinero.

Fue monaguillo en la iglesia, ayudaba al sacerdote en todo lo relacionado a las labores de la misa y también fue un joven muy devoto.
Alcanzó a estudiar hasta el 6to grado de educación primaria, lo cual para la época era como un bachillerato de hoy en día, con una letra y ortografía excelente y para las matemáticas ni les quiero contar, nadie le ganaba sacando cuentas. Ya de hombrecito, comenzó trabajando en la Jefatura Civil del pueblo (San Casimiro – Edo Aragua), llevando los libros y demás documentos relacionados con la actividad civil del pueblo (actas de matrimonio, nacimientos, etc), allí llegó a ser la primera autoridad, o sea, Jefe Civil.

He managed to study up to the 6th grade of primary education, which for the time was like a high school today, with excellent handwriting and spelling and for mathematics I don't even want to tell you, nobody beat him by taking accounts. Already as a little man, he began working in the Civil Headquarters of the town (San Casimiro - Edo Aragua), carrying the books and other documents related to the civil activity of the town (marriage certificates, births, etc.), there he became the first authority , that is, Civil Chief.
En esa época llegó al pueblo mi abuelito Augusto Vilera, con familia, entre ellas sus hijas (Rosa Amelia, Ligia y Gisela), para fundar una farmacia. Mi padre al ver a Gisela quedó prendado de ella, se hicieron novios y a los tres años se casaron, de esa unión nacieron cinco hijos, cuatro varones y una hembra (o sea yo).

De allí y buscando un mejor futuro, decidió mudarse a la capital (Caracas), acá trabajo como chofer y luego en oficinas, haciendo todo tipo de trabajos, aún cuando no tenía estudios de contabilidad, llevaba todo lo relaciona a la administración de la empresa donde laboraba. Su último empleo fue en una compañía de transporte de maquinaria pesada, acá trabajo durante 20 años, a petición de sus hijos se retiró a los 80 años, con su mente totalmente lúcida, ya que ellos consideraban que debía retirarse debía a su edad, y así lo hizo.

Admiraba demasiado a mi padre, un hombre esforzado y valiente, echado hacia adelante, nunca lo vi quejarse ni amilanarse antes las adversidades, siempre de buen humor con un chiste a flor de piel, con una palabra amable para todos y aún cuando tuvo afluxiones como la pérdida de su hijo mayor, a la edad de 20 años en un accidente. Esto lo derrumbó por un tiempo, pero por sus cuatro hijos que quedamos, se levantó y continuó hacia adelante, mi papá era una persona muy familiar, le encantaba celebrar cumpleaños, navidades, año nuevo y cualquier oportunidad era buena para hacer “una mini fiesta”, y esto era con una comilona siempre, porque era muy esplendido.

Mi padre falleció a la edad de 93 años de edad, todos los miembros de nuestra familia han sido longevos, mi abuela paterna fallecía a los 101 años, mi papá siempre fue un hombre muy sano, aún cuando no sufría del corazón de un paro cardiorespiratorio.
Para mi fue un ser único e inolvidable, divertido, amigable y tantas otras cualidades, que le hicieron el gran papá.
