Ascent to the bell tower
While quarantine continues, I clean up the folders with photos. Today I looked at the autumn pictures and found photos taken at the bell tower in the Peter and Paul Fortress on September 2 last year.
It was a beautiful day. The weather was wonderful, sunny and warm. I walked around the city and suddenly thought how pleasant it would be to climb one of the observation platforms to enjoy the views from above. The nearest such site was the bell tower of the Peter and Paul Cathedral. This is a popular tourist attraction. If it had happened in August, the line of tourists would have stood at the entrance. But September has already begun, classes at schools have begun, and there were not very many tourists.
The observation deck is located at a height of 42 meters. You need to climb on foot, without an elevator. You can see a lot of interesting things along the way. Inside the bell tower there is a museum exposition telling about its history. The carillon of the bell tower of the cathedral is located slightly below the observation deck; on holidays, concerts of carillon music are held in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
View from the observation deck:
It was difficult to take photos of the city center, they were obtained against the sun. Therefore, I photographed the view towards the center of the city through a protective net, stepping back inland.
After climbing the bell tower, I went down to the beach and sat by the water, enjoying the wonderful weather.
Sure is a great view from that. Looks like lots of crane in the far end. Is there a port or some big construction going on?
Yes, the port and shipyards are located there.
Awesome bells. Have you heard them?
Yes, I heard them. In the top photo you can see the benches below. I took place on one of these benches, I sat and listened to a concert. I like it:)
Sounds lovely.
