Most Memorable Photos of Matti's First Year of Life

When I became a mother, I had promised myself to make the first year memorable, so allow me to share with you these photos of Matti's monthly milestone. Although motherhood was new to me, there was one thing that I was surely able to complete and that's his monthly pictorial and I praise God for giving me the strength to pursue it. There were several times that I felt like it was no anymore worth it but I continued and persevered and looking back, I am just glad I did.

I compiled them in this way, a polaroid-like photo collage with the use of Canva, I have a premium account with them. These two above were Matti's first and second months. In his first month, I was still very emotional, I gave birth in the middle of the pandemic so my parents were not able to come to Cebu, my husband and I took turns in taking care of the baby but the most painful part was the breastfeeding. I was still not used to it that there was a pain in every session. I would even cry!

But I managed to order a cake, and prepare his setup for the day of the photoshoot, we did it just at home. My husband was already working from home at that time. I used a huge basket and added comforters and pillows to it. His oversized onesie was still huge for him but everything went accordingly. I then post-processed this on the same day on Adobe Lightroom.

As for the second month, I was opting for another gray theme but I have no more gray onesie so I decided to use the cloth diaper instead and a cake I ordered too from a Cebu based bakery. Matti was not in the mood at that time, he kept on crying and crying so we ended up with just a few pictures.

On Matti’s third month, we got quarantined, part of the process was because of the pandemic, and we finally decided to go home to Bohol. We were in a private quarantine facility but I managed to order a cake and have It delivered to the facility.

In the fourth month, we were already at home in my parents’ house. I ordered a dinosaur-style onesie which came with a head cap and so I ordered a cake with a dinosaur art too. This one was my favorite photoshoot ever because Matti was just looking very cute with the onesie!

For the fifth month, Matti was also dedicated. We had a small gathering at home with some of the godparents. His denim long sleeve here was bought in shopee while the short was a gift from a friend. This time, I ordered a simple cake with just the 5th month written on it but there were some designs on the sides.

As for the sixth month, I bought a wooden plate for Matti as a start of his solids journey. I used the cloth diaper with the fox design too and a cake with a fox on it!

Matti’s seventh month was purely simple. It was at that time that he is already able to sit down with little supervision so I bought a mat where he can practice rolling over and sitting. I also ordered a bare cake and I added some fruit toppings.

For the eighth month, we went outdoors for the first time. I set up another gray theme with Matti wearing his hat, a gift from his mamay or aunt. We also bought him some tethers because he was just biting everything

And another outdoor pictorial for his ninth month. We traveled far for an hour to get to this Benliw Dam. We had quite an adventure when we went there and also there were some cake failures too but all was well.

I find Matti’s costume really cute with that hat too.

As for his tenth month, we headed to the beach, it was the month of May and it was summertime in the Philippines. His father made a DIY boat and hook too. She was surely happy being out on the beach.

For the 11th month, Matti had an indoor photoshoot and I was thinking of a camera gear photoshoot but then I saw some cute baby milk bath photos that I decided to make that instead. I used lemons here and just a few milk powder dissolved in the water. It was the cutest!

But for Matti’s first birthday, we were in Oslob, Cebu, in my husband’s hometown. We were supposed to be there only for a week but because I was tested positive for COVID, we were left with no choice but to spend it there instead.

We had a simple photoshoot, I bought nude-colored pants, made a banner and that’s it. We were quarantined at that time so I was thankful that we were still able to celebrate his birthday through the photoshoot. I asked someone to help us with the cake and they delivered well.

Overall, I consider these pictures as treasures. We can’t bring this time again so truly, these are my most memorable pictures so far. I do have travel photos and all but becoming a mother is a new adventure that I surely cherish the most.
