Today, I'm here to take part in your contest for the Steemit Engagement Challenge on the theme of "farewell." While I've encountered various farewells in my life, I believe that the most recent one has been the most difficult, and I've chosen to share my thoughts on it.

Tell us the story of your farewell from home?

At the age of 23, I embarked on a life-changing journey. It was my first experience riding a train as I carried just two suitcases with me. My destination was Siliana, a city located 300 kilometers away from my hometown, where I would begin my teaching career.

I arrived in Siliana with a sense of excitement and trepidation, not knowing a person in the unfamiliar place. However, I managed to find a small room to rent for a period of three months, a timeframe I deemed sufficient to gain valuable experience, secure employment, and take the necessary steps for my new life.

This endeavor was a true adventure. The mixture of fear and excitement was palpable, and I take pride in the courage it took to make such a significant leap.

In preparation for my departure, I would visit a cybernet coffee, where I had just one hour of internet access. Loading web pages was a slow process, so I had to plan ahead to make the most of my time.

My arrival in Siliana occurred on October 17, 2007, and within a few days, I even experienced my first allergy to moisture and dust.

A week after my arrival, I found a group of friends at a local coffe. Remarkably, we've remained close friends throughout the years, despite the physical distance that now separates us.

I spent 12 years in Siliana before embarking on adventures in other regions, but I always hold Siliana dear to my heart, considering it my "home" and a significant reference point in my life.

Have you ever had to leave involuntarily, either because of separation in marriage, dismissal from a job or separation from fellow students? Tell us about a single case.

As I mentioned earlier, I departed from Siliana five years ago, and my decision to leave the area was not prompted by any work-related issues or discomfort. During my approximately 12-year tenure, I had the privilege of building strong friendships and establishing a positive reputation in that workplace.

The primary motivation behind my relocation was to bring my spouse and me closer together. I desired to be near my wife's workplace so that we could share our lives under one roof throughout the entire week, as opposed to only three days. Additionally, this move allowed me to provide better care for my eldest son and spend more time with him.

Do you feel prepared for another farewell?

I live very well in Tunisia and I have no desire to live anywhere else. It's a beautiful country and we are lucky I enjoy my life in Tunisia immensely and have no desire to live elsewhere. This is a beautiful country, and I feel fortunate to lead a peaceful life, which is truly valuable. Of course, everything isn't flawless. Can you point me to a country without any concerns? I'm concerned about my grandchildren's future due to the stagnant economic situation. Furthermore, our planet Earth is facing serious threats. Nevertheless, we must remain hopeful, as both men and women possess the ability to find solutions. Even though we may lack oil, we are rich in ideas!

Let's refrain from comparing our happiness to others' misery. I understand that some Tunisians are facing difficulties, but I believe that solidarity can assist them. Numerous charitable organizations exist, and our system is based on equitable distribution. We all benefit from it. Wealthy individuals may not be as content as you think; money is merely a means to an end, not the ultimate goal in life.

Being content with what one has is of great importance. I agree that there should be a minimum standard of living. It's crucial not to stretch one's resources too thin. We should sympathize with those who are unemployed and make every effort to reduce unemployment. Opportunities exist in various industries, perhaps even elsewhere. It is essential to inform young people about the available opportunities and steer them away from pursuing educational paths that lead to dead ends. This challenge is surmountable.

Pessimism doesn't contribute to problem-solving. It seems to me that Tunisians excel in this regard. Fortunately, there are solutions at hand, and it's important that we pay attention to them.

What lessons does life teach us through these farewells?

It's standard procedure to provide notice when changing a location. You can continue working as usual and even offer to help train your colleagues to ensure a smooth transition.

In terms of professionalism, it's essential to maintain a high standard of work and act as if you haven't moved. However, in reality, the dynamics have shifted. There's no longer a need to strive for advancement within the job, seek approval, constantly outdo yourself, or overly invest in your role.

You can simply fulfill your work hours, become less emotionally invested in questionable decisions, and detach from workplace events, taking them in stride. If you face pressure, and it's not aggressive, you have the option to decline additional tasks and avoid getting involved in office politics and unnecessary drama.

I'm not suggesting that you should abandon your work ethic or professionalism, nor should you forget the importance of maintaining a cooperative and respectful attitude. You can remain steady and composed, but you don't have to give in to the prevailing absurdities. You don't have to actively oppose them, but you can choose a path of resistance knowing that your departure is imminent.
