The TASTE of 😋 my TRIP to the 'Coconut Island' by @rem-steem!

in SaturdayMemories4 years ago

I feel blessed that I made this trip happen. It was the middle of this ongoing pandemic, we were not sure if it would be a clever decision but we took the risk.

I'm talking about our last family trip to the SaintMartin Island of Bangladesh. It was in November 2020. Covid situation became a little normal back then; we felt so suffocating staying at home for that long, we finally decided to have a tour. And now I can say, it was a good decision. We were safe and healthy, and the moments we made were unforgettable!

The Island's name is 'Saint Martin Island'. This name sure gives you an idea about colonization. This is the official name. But locally people call it 'Narikel Jinjira' which means 'coconut Island' in our native 'Bangla' language. It's located in the southern part of Bangladesh, actually the last point on the map. We had to travel almost 14 hours by bus and ship to reach this Island. Here is the exact location of the place. You can also click on this WiKi link to know more about this place.

The place got a mesmerizing view, it's worth travel so many hours for sure. And because of the Covid situation, there were only a few tourists. So we got to enjoy the sanity of nature. The beach used to be almost empty during the early morning and at midnight. The place is very safe, so I used to walk around the beach during those hours.

You can see, why it got the name Coconut Island. The whole Island is full of thousands of coconut trees. You will get to see many street vendors or small crats are selling coconuts. Don't miss the change. Because the coconut water and the white meat/copra are absolutely delicious. They are very refreshing, have a fizz in them which you may not find in any other places.

The best drink I could have! We stayed there for four days. And every single day during the very morning, when my husband and son used to be asleep, I went to the beach to have the refreshing taste of coconut water.

We also stated different local and seafood. In this market, you get to choose what you want to consume and they will prepare this for you in no time. The crab fry was mouthwatering!

So these are some precious memories I got about this Island. As I was saying, the more I think about our trip the more blessed I feel now. Because we are in another lockdown, the Covid situation is getting worse and maybe we will not make another trip anytime soon.

We have to live with these memories...

Thanks to @olga.maslievich and #SaturdayMemories Community for creating the change to share our experiences and memories. It's fun and feels great!

Good work :)

It's a really wonderful place. Good to know it brings some joy to you.
Thanks for your appreciation 😊
Have a wonderful day!

Thank you @rem-steem for a wonderful story! I'm glad, that discovered this coconut island! We in Ukraine can buy coconut only in the supermarket :)

In Bangladesh, coconuts are common around the country. But not as reasonable in price and good in taste like the Island one.
Have a wonderful day.
