How are you? Nice to see you all again on #SaturdayMemories. My special thanks to @olga.maslievich for creating this contest. This time I want to share a story about the PLTD Apung in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

A few weeks ago, I visited the PLTD Floating Ship. The 2,600-ton ship was used as a power plant for Banda Aceh and its surroundings in mid-2004. The electric machine belonging to PT PLN was parked at the Ulee Lheue Port complex.

When the earthquake and tsunami occurred on December 26, 2004, a nine-meter-high tsunami lifted the PLTD Apung ship five kilometers to the center of Banda Aceh City. Now his position is in Gampong Punge Blang Cut, Jaya Baru, Banda Aceh City.

I arrived at this location at 5.15 PM. There were two officers at the entrance. I asked their permission to take a picture and take a closer look at the historical monument. This is not my first time coming here. Been there several times. I don't want this to be how many times.

I took photos from various sides as below.

The photo above is the view from inside the ship. It has now been converted into a museum. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the museum area is closed to the public.

Tourists who want to visit here will be warmly welcomed by the guards. There are also many interesting souvenirs around the location. The food is also very good.

At 6:15 p.m., the gates closed. "It's too late for us to close. Because there are guests from North Kalimantan Province,” an officer said me.

This ship is not just like a giant house. The ship, which has an area of about 1,900 square meters with a length of 63 meters, is now a museum. Inside are exhibited historical objects when the tsunami hit the coast of Aceh 17 years ago. That's my story for #SaturdayMemories this time. A few weeks later I want to invite @syukranj92, @fadhilaceh, and @acehfootball to go there again and write for this contest.
