National Botanical Garden Mirpur,Dhaka
Hello..!!
My Dear Friends,
I am @tanvirahammad10 from #Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is known for its immense population and bustling lifestyle. But hidden within this concrete jungle is a natural haven that offers a momentary respite to city dwellers. That peaceful and green haven is the National Botanical Garden, located in Mirpur. It is not just an entertainment center, but a living laboratory and educational center for plant lovers, researchers, and nature lovers.
Location Overview
The National Botanical Garden is located in the Mirpur area of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is located right next to the Mirpur Zoo, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dhaka. Its distance from Mirpur Section 1 is very short, so it can be easily reached by private car, CNG or bus. Although it takes some time to reach from the city center, its accessibility is quite good. The main gate of the garden is easily visible from the main road. It is a place that serves as a serene haven of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Geographically, it is a vast green area, where natural and artificial beauty coexist.
History or Background
This garden is not just a recreational center, it is an important center for botanical research in Bangladesh. The garden was planned to be established in 1961, but its activities began in 1973. The main objective of its establishment was to conserve the country's rare and endangered plant species and at the same time increase awareness about plants and the environment among the general public. Spread over an area of 205 acres, this garden is the largest botanical garden in Bangladesh. It serves as the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, the National Herbarium and a living laboratory for botanists. Every part of the garden is scientifically designed, where different species of plants are arranged according to their natural characteristics.
Scenery and Landscape
The landscape inside the Botanical Garden is very diverse. There are high and low hills, wide green grass lawns and numerous small and large water bodies. The most attractive aspect of the garden is its different themed gardens. For example:

Also, there are numerous walking paths inside the garden, which have been winding through the forest. There is a huge artificial lake here, with small bridges built over it, which are great for taking pictures. The experience of spending time sitting by the lake is also quite relaxing.

Visitors to the Botanical Garden usually enjoy nature by walking here. It is a very popular place for picnics, especially in winter. Students come here on educational trips to gain knowledge about botany. It is also a great place for photographers, where they can capture the various forms of nature on camera. For those who want to read a book in peace or spend some time in solitude, the paths along the lake or inside the dense forest are ideal.

There are benches, picnic spots, restrooms and safe walking paths for visitors. There are beautiful paths for walking up and down. Besides, stairs have been made at some places so that visitors can move around smoothly. Entrances and basic amenities have been ensured for the disabled. Also, there were no shops for tea and snacks. A few people were walking around selling tea. Since it is a national park, shops are not allowed inside. However, there were people sitting on the side of the road selling water. So, anyone who is going to visit should carry a water bottle with them.
Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the National Botanical Garden is during the winter months (November to February). The weather is pleasant during this time and the flowers are in full bloom. The rose garden and orchid house are especially in their full glory during this time. The garden is open at other times of the year, but it can be a bit difficult to navigate due to the heat in the summer and the rains during the monsoon. For photographers, the garden is best photographed at dawn or sunset.
Tickets and Entry Rules
There is an entry fee to visit the garden, which is currently 30 taka per person. There are special discounts for children and students. Security personnel may check your bags at the time of entry.
Here are some rules that must be followed:
★Maintaining cleanliness within the garden is mandatory.
★Destroying plants, flowers or any vegetation is strictly prohibited.
★Littering of plastic or non-biodegradable garbage is prohibited.
★ To maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the garden, you should refrain from playing loud music or shouting.
Personal Experience
For me, the National Botanical Garden is a peaceful and educational place. It is not just a place to visit, but a living classroom. The huge trees, different species of flowers and the chirping of birds here give me a unique feeling of being close to nature. Although it is located in one of the busiest areas of Dhaka, once you enter the garden, you will be transported to a completely different world, where only nature and peace prevail.
Advice for future visitors: The garden is very large, so it is better to wear comfortable shoes. It takes at least 2-3 hours to walk around the entire garden. If you love nature and photography, it is best to go in the morning in winter. And if you want a quieter atmosphere, you can avoid holidays and go on any other day of the week. Don't forget to take enough water and light food with you, because good quality food outlets are limited inside the garden.
Above all, the biggest feature of the National Botanical Garden is that it is a piece of peaceful green world amidst the hustle and bustle of Dhaka. It is a wonderful place to spend time with nature.
