SEC-S18W3 | Traveling and enjoying in couple 👫 [Travel to Tamilnadu with Mother ]

My mother traveled to her Gurujee Ashram in Purulia in March 2024
In the year 1986, 23 January, Netaji Jayanti was Friday. Me and my mother boarded Coromandel Express for a trip to Tamil Nadu. The train journey was nice. In between at Rajamundry train reversed it direction. There was pantry car so we had cooked food from there. We reached Chennai next day evening. It was almost 10 years my brother in law shifted to Chennai. They came to platform to receive us. After we had a round of cup of tea I played with my nephew for a while. We had our dinner early.
Next day morning our AC reserved bus reached early morning at the scheduled stoppage. We started journy for Tirupati Balaji. We stayed there for longtime as there were rush due to weekend. Though we had a VIP pass we had to wait for long hours. It is one of the richest Hindu temple of the world with respect to donations received by the trust. We reached Chennai quite late. We had dinner very quickly.

Next day we awake up listening rabindrasangeet (songs) which my sister was practicing with her students. It was Sunday every one was at home so we took a break from our hectic journey.
In the afternoon we altogether headed to Mahabalipuram after a sumptuous lunch and power nap.
We really enjoyed some of the oldest Hindu temples with thousands of sculpture of lord Shiva.
The beach on the Bay of Bengal was full of Golden sand with caves and chariot rock temples. We returned home and had our dinner together.

Next day very early morning we sat on a bus bound to Pondicherry a union territory and famous for Sri Sri Aurobindo (Ghosh) Ashram. We paid our tribute to Sri Aurobindo and Sri Maa. At that time Auroville was in project stage and we saw a model of the township which is now an fulflaged township with excellent prayer hall and all other facilities. People from all over the world are invited to stay here with harmony and peace. We returned same-day to Chennai.
Next day we had train for Kanyakumari from Egmore station. It takes now total of 12:15 hours journey to reach Kanyakumari. It was a narrow gauge track. We got down at Madurai in the early morning. We visited the Madurai Minakshi temple. It has a hall of thousand pillars and over 33000 sculptures. It will take atleast one day to see the temple in details. Anyways we spend few hours and proceed to Kanyakumari on the same day.
In the evening we visited the Kanyakumari temple and beach area. We also visited the Vivekananda rock temple. Actually I visited Kanyakumari two more times. So my memory is jumbled up with all thoughts of visits. Once I thought of going to deep sea in fishermen boat also.

Next Day we agin boarded train for Chennai. Now there is a direct train from Kanyakumari to Howrah junction.

This was a great time you had with family because travelling with family is always fun and memorable. Although it looks like it was an hectic journey, but lots of fun accompanied with love won't let it seem so.
Nice post friend, but i would have enjoyed more if you took those pictures yourself so that i can see how they places all looks now.

from the Bay of Bengal beach with its incredible red sand, excellent to enjoy each temple that is on the beach like Kanyakumari.

Hello traveler! 👋🏼@impersonal, a nice job especially as you travel with your mother to distant places in south India. You reminded me of my visit to Triputi Balaji. You had VIP pass but I was in a general line and waited for 4-5 hours and came back without entering the main temple gates. I only collected the big Laddu from the back side of the temple where people were getting their heads shaved. I had to stand in a long queue to travel to the shrine as well. btw, I have lived in south for a long time.
