The beauty of going to the mountains in gloomy weather!!

I wanted to share with you some photos I took yesterday. I went for a short hike quite early in the morning, about 20 km from my home. I think I have shared some photos of this location before; it’s called Campofontana and is located in the municipality of Selva di Progno in the province of Verona. I have to say, I enjoy going there in any weather conditions.

Let’s say yesterday wasn’t one of the best situations; the weather, as you can see from the photos, was very gloomy. However, I think it’s very nice to visit these places regardless of the weather because each time you notice something different. For example, I shared a photo of a stele, and even though I’ve passed through that area several times, I had never seen it before. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it to you yet, but it used to be a tradition in these places to create such steles. Many were dedicated to the Christian religion, as in this case.

They say that more than 100 of these steles used to be found here, but now only a few remain. This is partly because these artistic works, which also have significant spiritual value, have often been stolen. Probably, someone wants to create a private collection at home.

Then, continuing my walk, I stopped to photograph the so-called "dangerous saffron." Yes, because there is a plant that looks similar to saffron but is actually poisonous. In fact, there have been cases of people who got poisoned thinking they were gathering real saffron.

The unfortunate thing about the photos is that it’s hard to convey the tranquility and peace of these places, especially when the weather is gloomy, as there are fewer people around, making it much more pleasant.
