My Trip to Vienna - Schönbrunn Palace | Part 2
Hello friends of this beautiful community, today in this post, I will continue to talk to you about my trip to Vienna and what I have been able to visit these days. I will definitely give you some useful information in case you visit Vienna in the coming years, including some ways to save on tickets. Unfortunately, tickets to enter museums are quite expensive, and life in general in Vienna is also quite costly. Today I will tell you about Schönbrunn Palace, one of the summer residences of the Habsburg family. I must say I had high expectations for this place, and to some extent, they were met. Schönbrunn originally started as a modest hunting lodge, but it was in the 17th century with Empress Maria Theresa that it was transformed from a humble hunting lodge into a sumptuous residence. After climbing the stairs, I was able to visit the various rooms, which were very interesting, especially because thanks to the audio guide available in all languages, I could understand the purpose of these rooms and especially who inhabited this important residence. Of course, it was also inhabited by Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi, the famous empress for her beauty and free spirit, who later became a cinema icon, and her films about her life became famous worldwide. It was very interesting to see these rooms, and it felt like traveling back in time. Since 1996, Schönbrunn has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but not only are its rooms and royal apartments beautiful, its gardens are also stunning. Part of its gardens can be visited freely without a ticket, but you need to buy a ticket to visit the zoo, a maze, climb the Gloriette (a neoclassical building that offers a view of Vienna from above), the Orangery housing exotic plants and citrus fruits, a truly unique and special place. After visiting the palace, I took a walk to the highest point, located in a hilly area, from where I naturally took several photos, not only of the palace itself but also of the city of Vienna. In conclusion, I can say that it is worth the ticket price, especially for an art and architecture enthusiast like me. Above all, through the audio guide, I could learn about the history of this ancient Austrian family, which was very important in Europe. I hope the photos I shared were interesting. See you for the continuation of this journey in my next post. Bye for now!
I bought the ticket online to skip the line, and I purchased the Sissi ticket, which allowed me to visit Schönbrunn, the Sissi Museum, and the Vienna Furniture Museum for 49 euros with an audio guide. The price might seem high, but actually combining these museums saves you 25% on the ticket price.
