Hello friends of this beautiful community,

I continue my story about the trip I took to Vienna. Even today, I want to introduce you to a place I visited in this wonderful city, which I must say I enjoyed a lot, not only because it is rich in parks but also because of the numerous bike paths.

One thing that I think is worth visiting, especially since it was included in the combined ticket I bought to visit Schönbrunn and the Furniture Museum, is the Hofburg, the Imperial Palace of Vienna. It’s a place rich in history and beauty, and it is the center of Habsburg power. Believe it or not, it consists of more than 2,600 rooms, though only a portion of them are open to visitors.

The first part of the visit is dedicated to Empress Sissi, who became famous through various films. As I mentioned in previous posts, she was a truly remarkable figure, or rather, a very special woman who shaped the history of this European dynasty.

In the Archduke Stephen Victoria’s apartments, a museum dedicated to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi, has been set up since 2004. Visiting this museum gives you the chance to understand the true personality of this empress. At the start of the tour, you can see various objects and clothes used by the empress.

You can then visit the different rooms where the empress stayed, but not only her—other emperors have stayed there as well. Remember that Vienna has always been significant, both in World War I and World War II. Several peace treaties were signed in this palace, and it was also where the first form of post-Napoleonic Europe was created.

I can say that the various rooms greatly impressed me, although some, like those of Franz Joseph, the consort of Elisabeth of Austria, were very functional and sober, without any frivolity. The visit concludes with the dining room, which was one of the most important rooms where parties were also held.

As I mentioned, the museum is open every day from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It includes admission to the imperial apartments and the Sissi Museum. To visit it thoroughly, which is how I usually do it, it takes more than two hours, and honestly, it was well organized and not stressful at all.

But this won’t be the last post about Vienna, as I have more things to share from the week I spent in the Austrian city. So, stay tuned for the next posts. In the meantime, I wish you all a great day!
