Discovering the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Corona: A Hidden Gem in Italy
Hello, fellow travelers,
Today, in this post, I want to introduce you to a place that is not only important from a religious perspective but also because it is a beautiful spot where you can admire a stunning panorama, making it a very interesting location from a naturalistic point of view as well.
I think I have already talked about this sanctuary because I have visited it many times. However, what I find very interesting is knowing the best time to visit it. If you are planning a trip to Italy, this is definitely a place you shouldn't miss, especially considering where it was built.
I'm talking about the Sanctuary of Madonna della Corona, a spectacular church built almost inside the mountain. It is located about 800 meters above sea level and truly seems suspended between heaven and earth. I've always wondered how they managed to build this church.
As I mentioned, I have visited this place several times, but the advice I can give you is not to come here in winter. This sanctuary is situated in a spot where the sun only shines in the morning, so in winter, there is a risk of encountering a lot of ice and getting hurt. It's advisable to visit from spring to autumn.
Access to the sanctuary is completely free. There is a shuttle service that takes you from the nearest town to the sanctuary, as there are a few kilometers to cover. However, if you enjoy walking, you can easily do it on foot. You will have the opportunity to see the bronze Via Crucis, which is located right on the paved road that leads from the town of Spiazzi, where you can leave your car, to the sanctuary, which takes about 15 minutes.
At the sanctuary, there is also a bar and restaurant where you can refresh yourself, as well as bathrooms and tables where you can have a picnic, always respecting the sacredness of the place.
I will probably release a video on my YouTube channel soon, where I will share more about the history of this place. There is also another interesting, albeit very challenging, trail that starts from the town of Brentino Belluno down in the valley and leads up to the sanctuary. I do not recommend this trail to those who are not well-trained, as many people get injured each year attempting to reach this place.
I hope you found my post interesting and that you enjoyed the photos I shared. See you next time, and I look forward to reading your numerous posts in this community.
See you soon, friends!
