In the course of visiting a place of high historical value, we are presented with relics that are full of stories behind them. Actually, I am not a history buff, but I have visited a cultural heritage building and also an iconic museum in Medan City called Maimun Palace several times.

Maimun Palace was built in the context of the transfer of the sultanate capital by Sultan IX of the Sultanate of Deli named Sultan Ma'mun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah, which began construction in 1888 and was completed in 1891, with an area of 2,772 m2. The building has an architectural style that combines eastern and western cultures. In the past, the entire area of this palace was the complex of the sultanate's government center.

The palace building consists of two floors with three parts: the main building, the right building and the left building, with a total of 30 rooms. The main building has a main room called Balairung Sri, formerly used as a reception area and now turned into a tourist attraction in which there are family photos and furniture relics of the sultanate government. To enter the room on the second floor, visitors buy a ticket for 10,000 Rupiah, equivalent to 2 Steem or 0.6 Dollar.

Of the many objects in the main room, there is one piece of furniture that I find particularly interesting to see and has a high historical value and meaning, the Sultan's Throne. It was from this wooden object that all thoughts, wisdom and orders from the Sultan were conveyed to bring goodness and prosperity to the people at that time. It seems to be a silent witness to the history of the governance of the Sultans who occupied it and it is also a symbol of pride for Malay culture.

During one of my visits to Maimun Palace with my family, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to witness a typical Malay art performance in the form of playing musical instruments and dances that are not performed every day in this place. We really enjoyed the music and the melodies combined with the soft and beautiful dance movements, very impressive.
