A visit for High Tea at the Victoria Hotel will take you back to a bygone era. This beautiful grand old lady of Victoria Falls was built in 1904 in a colonial architectural style. The location is only a short walk from the mighty Victoria Falls waterfall, so we could both hear the sound and see the spray from the terrase of the hotel, while enjoying our tea.

The High Tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel is well known. On the day of arrival, we started our visit to this area with the High Tea. It turned out to be a good way to start our visit in Victoria Falls. Not only is this high end hotel a beautiful architectural gem, but the garden with a view of the waterfall is beautiful. The spray from the falls were our first view of the mighty Victoria Falls. We were sitting on the veranda facing the falls, so that we could se the spray. The bridge that connects Zimbabwe to Zambia, is also visible from here. Another experience is the wildlife that roams freely. It didn't take long before several warthogs were crossing the lawn.

The tea is served. One can choose between different teas seved with pastries, sandwiches, scones and delicious cakes. As the sun started to set, we decided that this was also a good place to have a coctail by the name of Livingstone! After all, it was David Livingstone (1813 - 1873) who was the first European to see the falls. He named the falls after the British Queen Victoria. He was a missionary and explorer. He became famous because of his obsession to find the sources of the river Nile and for crossing southern-central Africa. As the first European. The next day we were ready to see the falls close up, by visiting the national park. in town.

Victoria Falls! Believe it or not, it is the one place I have not yet been to, and it is right on our doorstep.
Tea and cucumber sandwiches... my favorites! (•ิ‿•ิ)

Easy to reach to Johannesburg. I didn't check what a night would cost in this hotel, but to have the tea and at the same time watch the bridge and the spray from the falls was a good start 😊
