Greetings dear steemians friends all over the world.
It's my pleasure to take part in this engagement challenge.
As we all know, October the month is celebrated breast cancer 🎀 day as well as commemoration.
I have been involved in the breathing cancers campaign twice.
That was some years ago. Unfortunately, I have no picture to share concerning the campaign as the device used in taking the pictures was stolen.

My story

There was a family friend of ours who suffered from breast cancer.

When the sickness started, no one knew it was breast cancer as the symptoms were not clear and common as well.

It began as ordinary pains of which she took painkillers.

The more ahe took the pain killer, the more her pains increased.
To the point that her sickness was not ordinary.

She began taking herbs as treatment to her problems but to no avail.

It was when my mother visited her and suggested that she should go to the hospital.
She thought there was no need as she had visited the hospital before, and the medication given to her didn't take care of her problem.

My mother suggested she visit another hospital who has more specialist.
She was convinced at that point and decided to visit the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.

In the hospital, she was asked a series of questions and that she was asked to carry out as many test as they could think of, which could be her problem.

One of the tests shows that she has breast cancer and the cancer is in its 4th stage.

The doctor says her chances of survival are low because the virus is spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body.

She was placed on medication, and unfortunately for her, she died of the sickness.

My recommendation

It is true that our late family friend visited the hospital, but the doctor in charge didn't know what her problem was.

• We should try to visit more than one hospital if our problem persists.
• We should have regular breast examination to know if there is any trace of cancer in our breasts. Because early detections save life.

Prevention

• Women should limit the intake of alcohol as this could cause cancer in the breast.

• Homones therapy such as birth control peels or implant can cause breast cancer, so we have to limit it.

• Too much exposure to radiation can cause breast cancer, so at this point, we have to reduce exposure as much as possible.

• Physical exercise has been recorded as one of the things that fight breast cancer, and we really have to engage regularly in physical exercise.

Awareness campaign

If our time permits, we should voluntarily be involved in the breast cancer awareness campaign, which is carried out every October of the year.
