Steem Women Club Community 'CHAIN OF GOODNESS EVENT' || DRESS FOR EVERY GIRL PROJECT: Giving of Dress to My Students
Hello to all the beautiful and wonderful women of the SteemWomen Club community. Magandang buhay! Greetings from my beautiful country, the Philippines! 🇵🇭
Today is another wonderful day. Another day to thank God for the blessing of life and love, for the gift of family and friends. It's another beautiful Friday! And since it's Friday, I have my students' parents once again here in school submitting their son/daughter's answer sheets, summative tests and performance tasks. Since we are experiencing this Covid-19 pandemic, students are having their modular distance learning, where they learn and study at home and modules and activities are provided every week so their parents could submit and get another set in school. We are all in these challenging times, but I know and I always believe, God will help us get through all of these. And we shall overcome. One day, I know one day, we will wake up someday and everything will be back to normal again.
"Give a girl a dress to twirl in and give her the confidence to conquer the world."
For today, I have planned another gift giving for my girl students. I always imagined of giving every girl a dress in my place. I think, one of the most valued possession of every girl is to own at least one dress. Not all girls have the chance to own a dress, especially in places where hunger and war is prevalent. My place is a blessed place because we could walk without the fear of our lives. And I really wish for everyone on Earth to live in a safe place, free to play and enjoy the sun, and free to pursue their dreams.
Indeed, owning at least a dress or two is one of a girl's prized possession. When I was a kid myself, I have this only one floral dress which I considered as my favorite, because not only it's flowery and girly, it is also my one and only dress at the time. So for today, I'm setting up once again my classroom pantry, this time instead of rice and other food items, I am distributing dresses for my girls. And I call this project as the: DRESS FOR EVERY GIRL PROJECT.
Last week, I asked all my girl students to list down their waistline and sizes, so I could gather the dresses that I will give to them. Since, I have this little online business where I sell dresses, might as well I could share these to my students. I know owning a dress will be one of the happiest memories of a girl.
Last night, I gather all the dresses from small to large sizes. With the body size they've written, I randomly picked the dress for my girls, with the wish that they will like my simple gift for them. I packed the dresses in plastics with their name on it.
This morning, I set up the table and arranged my girls' dresses. And I'm just so excited to see for the first parent to come. And finally, one, two and all of the parents came! I'm just so happy seeing them one by one, since our schedule for submission is from 8AM to 3PM. The parents are very grateful and excited for their daughters' dresses. They went home with big smiles and excitement for their daughters.
Later today, I received some of my students' pictures sent to me through messenger and their messages of gratitude for the dresses I gave them. They liked the dresses I gave them and said that they'd wear it to church or during special gatherings.
My heart is just so happy with another accomplishment today. It might not be that grand, but I know fulfilling one of a girl's wish to own a dress is enough for me, to see them loving the dress they're wearing. Because, I was once a girl too, wishing to own a dress one day.
