How I prepared kunu (healthy drink) my family enjoyed \\ by @queensleey. 10% to SteemWomen club.
Hey my Lovelies. How are today and work? I know we had a splendid working day.
I'm glad to be here again today. I love it when I know we can put smile on one another's face. @steemwomen club is one place I learn so many things... that's why I try my best to give the little I can for others to learn too.
Am here with this wonderful recipe on how to prepare Kunu, a sweet drink from the northern part of Nigeria.
I know some will say...is she from the North, how can she teach this perfectly? Well, I guess that what those that effected NYSC try to do...to help integrate Nigeria. It's to make us diversify our knowledge in other tribes outside ours....unity in diversity! Anyways, let's try this out as we can...
As shown in the picture above,we have
- Guinea corn
- Millet
- Sweet potatoes (dry or fresh)
- Ginger (dry or fresh)
- Karinpari spice(for aroma)
- Sweetner (sugar)
Step1.
Buy the guinea corn and Millet. Soak for 24hours ( so it can help it to be milled/grinded well). Under 24hrs, wash well and destone them. Put into a bucket then, set aside.
Step2:
Wash and cut the ginger and potatoes. Put into a separate plate. Add the karinpari spice in same plate. These will be grinded separate from the Millet and guinea corn. Take all to the mill and grind.
Step3:
When you return from the mill, set a pot of water to boil. Enough water depending on the quantity of the grinded Millet and guinea corn. Melt in a big basin/ bowl with ordinary water.
Step 4:
Stir the flavours (ginger, potatoes, and karinpari) you grinded...if not melted enough, add little ordinary water.
Pour it into the Prepared Millet and guinea corn...
Step 5:
By 12hours, you will be ready to sieve out the chaff. Get that chiffon cloth for pap. Tie on a bucket and work - sieve it.
Step 6:
Once you are done sieving....add sweetner to the liquid...
Check if it's as you want in consistency and taste. Then your kunu is ready. Fill in containers... original kunu from North I know is not thick. ..... it's just watery but tasty and no addition of any type of milk.
chill and enjoy!
IN CONCLUSION...
I know some of you may like treating your families as I love to. I hardly buy any of these canned things for my children so, I make it a point of duty to give them nutritious meals and drinks Prepared by me. Once I make out time for it.... majority of the weekends, they enjoy one of my delicious recipes. I love being adventurous,What about you?
