Workshop with teenage girls
Menstruating teenage girls have been victims of rights abuse, left with no access to WASH facilities in communities which has greatly impacted their lives and productiveness in the society. The current socio-political crisis in the North West and South West region of Cameroon has even made these situation worst as this girls continue to be victims of circumstances each day. The training of teenage girls in the Njilah village is just timely so as to empower them with knowledge and skills needed to cope in the extremely hard ship they are facing as a result of the crisis. 25th of May 2021 was the day we had this training with the teenage girls of Njilah village in which we gave the sound education on sexuality and puberty, Menstrual Hygiene Management and Gender based violence. You will be amazed to hear that in this century we live in now we still have girls of menstruating age who have never seen a sanitary pad, have zero access to contraceptives thereby exposing them to diseases of all sorts. This workshop with the girls lasted for 5 hours as we were dedicated to understanding pains these girls go through and accessing needs for possible interventions.
THE HAACAM TEAM
So during the training with the girls, the were able to bring out the major problems they are facing. To do this we separated the girls into two groups, so here we have the feedback from the groups;
FEEDBACK FROM GROUP 1
FEEDBACK FROM GROUP 2
Conclusively the girls of this community are in need of more support in various domains as seen on the charts above.
